Only by pressing forward in the face of difficulties can achievements be made; solid and earnest work fuels development. Confronted with numerous tests in advancing key projects, enterprises under the Emergency Industry take the initiative to shoulder responsibilities, face various contradictions and challenges head-on, and regard problem-solving as the breakthrough point of their work. This issue focuses on the frontline of the old park renovation, recording the builders’ inspiring stories of striving amid hardships.
At No. 88 Dahuichang Road, Fengtai District, the project for Emergency Rescue Equipment & Material Support and Demonstration Capacity Improvement is being pressed ahead at full steam. As the flagship initiative of Emergency Technology to undertake the group’s 15th Five-Year Plan coordinated emergency service tasks, the project covers a planned total land area of 30,000 square meters with a total construction floor area of 7,488 square meters. Based on the renovation and upgrading of the existing old factory compound, it performs “surgical renovation” on the original aged buildings. The old site with aging facilities and incomplete functions will be transformed into a comprehensive emergency service base integrating equipment storage, practical operation training and popular science demonstration. The project has confronted a host of practical challenges ever since its launch.
The original buildings suffered from roof leakage, corroded steel components and cracked walls, resulting in an arduous task for structural appraisal and reinforcement. Multiple sub-projects run in parallel, with cross-disciplinary work covering civil engineering, steel structure, photovoltaic, water & electricity and fire protection, bringing great difficulties to on-site coordination. Adjacent to residential areas and ecological protection zones, the park must meet stringent standards for civilized construction. The steel structure mezzanine, photovoltaic system and fire protection upgrading impose rigorous technical requirements. Design, tendering and construction are closely linked; delays at any node will affect the overall construction schedule.
Resources may be limited, yet the drive for progress knows no bounds. Faced with a string of practical hurdles, the project team rejected passive waiting and observation, taking proactive steps to resolve conflicts. A three-level management framework of “decision-making – implementation – supervision” was established, with responsibilities assigned to specific posts and individuals. Thorough preliminary surveys and structural safety appraisals of the aged buildings were conducted to eliminate hidden risks at the source. Dynamic tracking was applied to every construction milestone. Early warning and rectification would be triggered immediately once deviations occurred, ensuring management oversight extends to all worksites.
Unlock new prospects from old premises, demonstrate commitment through tackling hardships. As each sub-project advances in an orderly manner, the park is taking on a renewed look. Upon full completion of the project, the expanded material reserve warehouse will provide 1,100 square meters of standardized storage space. Warehouse No.1 will be transformed into a hands-on training venue for emergency rescuer certification examinations. The L-shaped photovoltaic carport can accommodate 42 rescue vehicles. The training quarters with dormitories, maintenance and decontamination workshop, main park roads and access control & security systems will all be put into operation.
The project will not only consolidate the solid foundation for emergency material and equipment support, but also enable external market-oriented services including training, study tours and equipment exhibitions. It effectively converts idle stock assets into incremental driving forces for corporate development, contributing solid strength to the robust development of the Group’s emergency industry segment.
